Md. Saiful Islam is Lead AI and Cloud Engineer at Riverborn, an AI systems development studio in Dhaka. He leads the technical direction of Riverborn's AI systems, from architecture and cloud infrastructure to the machine learning pipelines, RAG, document AI, and agent workflows they run on. His focus is on systems that scale under real load and stay affordable after launch.
About Md. Saiful Islam
Saiful is a computer science and engineering graduate of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), and he competed twice in the ACM ICPC Dhaka regional. He started his career in 2016 as a Python and Django backend engineer, where he built an order module that processed 300 orders a day. He then moved into cloud engineering on AWS. Migrating one application to serverless cut its monthly cost by 90%.
In 2021 he moved into Google Cloud, working remotely with international clients, first as a cloud engineer and then as a machine learning engineer. His work covers AWS-to-GCP migrations, Terraform infrastructure, and ETL and ELT pipelines. It also covers RAG systems, Gemini Enterprise agents built on A2A, and Document AI that reads lab test forms of varied layouts at a 95% F1 score. Moving one ML workflow from Apache Airflow to Vertex AI Pipelines cut its cost by 90%.
His client work has moved production infrastructure from AWS to Cloud Run at 70% lower monthly cost. He has built Vertex AI training pipelines on A100 GPUs for medical imaging, and he has turned plain-text shopping requests into structured orders with LLM function calling. The common thread is cost and reliability: choosing the right compute, automating deployment, and instrumenting systems so problems surface before customers notice them.
Saiful has mentored more than 300 students in programming and was a mentor for Coursera's Machine Learning course. In October 2026 he earned Anthropic's Claude Certified Architect – Foundations certification.
